Al Muwaqqar: His Majesty King Abdullah II visited three significant factories in Al Muwaqqar Industrial City, focusing on industries such as food products, packaging, and garment manufacturing, which are contributing to employment opportunities for Jordanians.
According to Jordan News Agency, the King's first visit was to Al Kbous Group for Industrial Trading and Investment factories. Established in Jordan in 2013, the group focuses on producing tea and coffee for both local consumption and export. Chairman Hassan Al Kbous and CEO Mamoon Al Kbous reported that the factories have a production capacity of 7,200 tonnes and employ around 210 Jordanians. Originally founded in Yemen, Al Kbous Group has expanded its investments across seven countries and plans to further enhance its industrial footprint in Jordan by establishing an industrial potato factory and a soft drinks factory. The group aims to open new markets for its tea products, with 95 percent of these products currently being exported to over 32 countries.
The second visit was to the Quality Carton Packaging (QPack) factory, a local enterprise launched by Zalatimo Industries in 2005. The factory employs 225 Jordanians and distributes products locally while exporting approximately 7,000 tonnes annually to markets in the Middle East, Europe, North America, and Asia. Group Chairman Marwan Zalatimo and CEO Mohammad Zalatimo explained that the factory specializes in manufacturing packaging for the food, trade, and shipping sectors, with a production capacity of 25,000 tonnes per year.
King Abdullah II's final visit was to the Pine Tree Company for Textile Manufacturing factory. CEO Moath Al Saaida provided insights into the company's operations, highlighting that their exports exceed $100 million annually. Established in 2014, the company employs around 600 Jordanians, including 60 industrial engineers, out of a total workforce of 1,730. Notably, Jordanians hold 98 percent of management positions at the factory, which is affiliated with the Singaporean sportswear manufacturer Ramatex.
Jordan's industrial sector is a major employer, with more than 250,000 workers, 90 percent of whom are Jordanian. The sector attracts foreign investments and provides high-quality products to international markets, significantly contributing to the nation's economic growth.
