Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II's recent visit to the National Press signifies a pivotal moment in the company's century-long history and is expected to bolster its efforts to expand exports to neighboring countries, as stated by Director-General Hani Samman.
According to Jordan News Agency, the King visited the Amman-based printing house to celebrate its 100th anniversary and inaugurated a new packaging printing unit aimed at serving the food, pharmaceutical, and other sectors. The royal visit underscores the King's commitment to supporting industrial projects across the Kingdom and enhancing commercial growth, as noted by Samman. The King expressed his willingness to aid the company's endeavors to penetrate foreign markets and increase exports.
Samman emphasized, "We expect this gracious visit to expand our exports, especially since His Majesty showed readiness to help us access foreign markets, which will help us develop our products and expand our investments."
During his visit, King Abdullah II was briefed on the National Press's evolution over the past century, including its current production capacity of nearly 10 million books annually. He also inspected the new expansion facilities.
Founded in 1926, the National Press, situated on Al-Quds Street in Amman, has been instrumental in introducing new printing technologies to Jordan and the broader Middle East. Samman proudly stated, "We are honored to have put Jordan on the world's printing map, according to the testimony of international experts."
The company is known for producing books, magazines, and various commercial printing materials. It has recently invested in advanced equipment for manufacturing packaging products targeting both local and international markets. The new expansion features a multicolor printing press with special-effects printing units, a multicolor gilding unit, cutting and creasing machines, box-making machines, a corrugated cardboard production machine, and equipment for laminating printed paper with cardboard, among other auxiliary machinery.
Samman highlighted that the National Press operates on a 1,300-square-meter site, with total investments, including land and construction, amounting to approximately JD40 million. He noted that while the majority of the company's products and sales currently serve the local market, its operations provide employment for about 150 individuals.
