Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II, during a meeting with former prime ministers at Al Husseiniya Palace on Sunday, affirmed that Jordan is fully prepared to protect its sovereignty and security, according to a royal court statement.
According to Jordan News Agency, during the meeting, His Majesty discussed developments in the region and highlighted the outcomes of his productive visit to New York last week, where he attended the United Nations General Assembly meetings. The King stated that Jordan is working in coordination with Arab and active partners on the comprehensive plan for Gaza presented by United States President Donald Trump last week during a multilateral meeting with Arab and Muslim leaders, emphasizing that many of its details align with previously agreed terms.
His Majesty noted the strong rapport among Arab and Muslim leaders and the alignment of views with active partners on regional developments, particularly concerning the Palestinian cause and the situation in Gaza. He highlighted the international consensus on the two-state solution as the sole path to achieving peace in the region.
The meeting also addressed Israel's attack against Qatar, with the King asserting that this aggression carries a clear message aimed at terrorizing the region through force. He noted that the aggression has adversely affected Israel's relations with other countries in the region.
Additional discussions included developments in Syria and Lebanon, with Jordan expressing its support for these countries' efforts to maintain their sovereignty and stability. Speaking about Jordan's modernization efforts, His Majesty mentioned that despite challenging regional circumstances, the country is progressing with its three modernization tracks and emphasized the importance of completing ongoing economic projects.
The meeting was attended by former prime ministers Ahmad Obeidat, Abdel Karim Kabariti, Abdur-Rau'f Rawabdeh, Ali Abu Al Ragheb, Faisal Fayez, Adnan Badran, Nader Dahabi, Awn Khasawneh, Abdullah Ensour, Hani Mulqi, and Bisher Khasawneh. Also present were Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and General Intelligence Department Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni.
