Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday received Chief Observer of the EU Election Observation Mission, Zeljana Zovko. During a meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty expressed that Jordan is progressing with modernization despite facing regional challenges. According to Jordan News Agency, the King highlighted that the recent parliamentary elections mark the first step in a three-phase political modernization plan aimed at promoting platform-based partisan action and increasing youth and women engagement. His Majesty acknowledged the EU's efforts in monitoring the electoral process and its continuing support for Jordan's development initiatives across various fields. The discussions in the meeting also included regional developments, efforts to halt the Israeli war on Gaza and Lebanon, and international efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The EU chief observer commended Jordan's political modernization effo rts, particularly the successful conduct of elections for the 20th House of Representatives. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Independent Election Commission President Musa Maaytah, and EU Ambassador to Jordan Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas.
