Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II has sent a directive to Prime Minister Jafar Hassan to establish and lead a National Council for Future Technology. This new council will operate under the supervision of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
According to Jordan News Agency, the primary aim of the Council is to elevate Jordan's status as a leader in technology and digital economy, particularly amidst global competition in the adoption and utilization of advanced technologies. The council will consist of individuals chosen by the prime minister, recognized for their expertise in the field.
The King's letter, addressed to Prime Minister Hassan, emphasizes the importance of the technology sector in enhancing the quality of life for Jordanians and improving the economic and investment climate of the nation. His Majesty highlighted the need for Jordan to keep pace with the rapid global development in digital industries and advanced technology.
The Council is tasked with implementing significant projects that will help Jordan stay ahead of technological trends and meet future demands. It is also expected to create a detailed roadmap with measurable performance indicators and support ongoing government initiatives. These include developing digital and technological skills among human resources and fostering partnerships with the private sector and industry stakeholders.
King Abdullah II expressed confidence in the Council's ability to contribute to sustainable development and strengthen Jordan's national economy. The prime minister is expected to take necessary actions to execute this vision and appoint qualified members to the Council.
