Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday affirmed that Jordan has been, and will remain, the greatest support for Gaza's people, who are suffering from a humanitarian catastrophe unlike anything witnessed in recent history. During a meeting with media figures at Al Husseiniya Palace, His Majesty said Jordan will continue to provide everything it can out of its sense of moral, humanitarian, and Arab duty, highlighting the Kingdom's diplomatic efforts, including recent meetings with the leaders of Germany and Canada, and ongoing coordination with Arab leaders and international partners to press for an end to the war on Gaza and step up the humanitarian response.
According to Jordan News Agency, His Majesty emphasized the profound impact of Gaza's suffering on human compassion, noting that Jordan's response is driven by its foundational values of empathy and solidarity. The King remarked that the Kingdom's efforts, while significant, are dwarfed by the scale of horror endured by Palestinians in Gaza, where families face unimaginable hardships.
His Majesty stated that Jordan's actions are motivated by a deep sense of duty and not by a desire for recognition, stressing the nation's unwavering commitment to stand by its neighbors in need. The King acknowledged the collective anger and horror felt by Jordanians regarding the situation in Gaza, expressing confidence in their desire to alleviate the suffering in every possible way.
The King further addressed the importance of respecting diverse perspectives and individual expressions of grief, urging unity, empathy, and respect while navigating this complex issue. He highlighted the necessity of balancing solidarity with Gaza and maintaining normalcy in daily life, emphasizing that a strong Jordan is crucial for supporting Palestinians.
His Majesty underscored the importance of productivity and economic stimulation for the country's future, asserting that continuing normal life does not equate to ignoring Gaza's plight. He reiterated that Gaza needs a robust Jordan, committed to its Arab values, modernization, and development.
The meeting was attended by Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh.
