Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II's remarks reaffirming Jordan's steadfast positions and cautioning against attempts to exploit current regional developments to cast doubt on the country's national stance on key Arab issues have been widely viewed as a clear message of strength and unity.
According to Jordan News Agency, former Senator Talal Shurufat stated that the King's meeting with heads of authorities and security agencies came at a critical moment, as the region faces a dangerous escalation, particularly the fallout of the Iran-Israel conflict, which has affected Jordan both economically and in terms of security.
He noted the King's emphasis on reviving the Jordanian economy, already strained by the war on Gaza and Israel's repressive policies in the occupied West Bank, as well as the importance of reinforcing national spirit. Shurufat added that Jordanians rallying behind the King is crucial at this juncture, especially as the region contends with aggressive expansionist policies led by Israel's far-right government. This unity, he said, symbolizes the enduring bond between the Jordanian people and the Hashemite leadership and fortifies the country's internal front.
He stressed that the meeting served as a message of assurance to the public: Jordan, under the King's leadership, remains resilient. History shows that nations united in the face of external threats can weather crises, he said.
Former Minister Muhannad Mubaidin, Director General of the Royal Hashemite Documentation Center, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that Jordan, as His Majesty King Abdullah has consistently stated, upholds a responsible regional stance, rejecting incitement and conflict.
He said Jordan's rational approach, voiced across Arab, Islamic, and international platforms, consistently calls for de-escalation and a return to peaceful solutions.
On the domestic front, Mubaidin stressed the importance of national cohesion and confidence in Jordan's institutions, particularly those responsible for national security. "The official Jordanian position is clear: Jordan will not, and has not, allowed its airspace, land, or sea to be used as a theater of conflict," he said.
Former Minister Hael Dawood also spoke to Petra, praising the clarity and consistency of Jordan's national stance. He said Jordanians are proud of the kingdom's principled positions, led by the King, which prioritize national interests and unwavering support for Arab causes foremost among them the Palestinian issue.
