Moscow: The Kremlin on Tuesday called on both Iran and Israel to exercise the utmost restraint, stressing the need to eventually return to a political and diplomatic path for resolving the conflict. It also voiced concern over the worsening situation in the Middle East.
According to Jordan News Agency, speaking at a press briefing, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, "The situation in the Middle East is worrying and currently trending toward further escalation, particularly as the number of casualties and damage to residential buildings continues to rise on both sides."
Peskov noted that Russia now observes a reluctance on Israel's part to pursue a peaceful resolution with Iran and to engage in mediation efforts.
