Tubas: Israeli occupation forces, backed by the Shabak internal security service, on Wednesday launched a large-scale military campaign across the North of the West Bank. Israel army radio reported that a large force, with armored bulldozers, stormed into the town of Tubas and nearby Tammun and Akkaba villages, as helicopters circled the region.
According to Jordan News Agency, the occupation army has called this an open-ended operation, vowing to prevent Palestinian resistance groups from establishing a foothold in the region. The army has stated its intention to act preemptively to forestall any such attempts. A curfew was imposed starting at 4:00 AM, and the campaign is expected to continue for days, reminiscent of operations in West Bank refugee camps, coinciding with the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip.
The local education directorate in the northeastern West Bank announced that public schools were closed on Wednesday to ensure the safety of students and staff. Tubas Governor Ahmed al-Asaad also declared the closure of government and private institutions, asserting that the occupation authority aims to fragment the Northern West Bank and hinder movement.
Governor al-Asaad mentioned that the local emergency committee will be reactivated to address humanitarian matters and meet essential needs. He emphasized that the governorate is coordinating with local institutions to secure necessary services for the residents.
The Israeli army has intensified its attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since the onset of the war on Gaza. This conflict has resulted in approximately 1,070 fatalities, over 10,000 injuries, and more than 20,000 arrests, including 1,600 children, as reported by Palestinian sources.
