Legislators Emphasize Technological Adaptation at International Labour Conference in Geneva

Geneva: A parliamentary delegation attended on Wednesday the plenary session of the 113th International Labour Conference 2025, held in Geneva and concludes on June 13. Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Labour, Social Development and Population Moataz Abu Rumman, who is leading the delegation, urged adapting to the rapid changes in the labour market driven by technological advancements and artificial intelligence.

According to Jordan News Agency, Abu Rumman noted that approximately 60 per cent of current jobs are at risk of redundancy due to automation, underscoring that addressing this challenge is a top priority for the conference. He called for developing legislation and improving educational outcomes in digital sectors to keep pace with ongoing technological progress, noting that younger generations face challenges in transitioning to the global labour market amidst technological shifts.

MP Wissam Rbeihat, part of the delegation, stated that the conference's participation aims to promote standards of protection and decent work. He called for the development of legislative frameworks related to labour rights and social security.
