Amman: Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Mazen Qadi received the Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Pakistan, Shakaib Rafique, to discuss ways to enhance joint relations, particularly focusing on parliamentary ties.
According to Jordan News Agency, Qadi and Rafique affirmed that the Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites has preserved the identity of the holy city. The meeting reviewed the close bilateral relations, which enjoy the attention of the leaderships of both countries and consistently aim to achieve shared interests.
During the meeting held at the House's headquarters, Qadi emphasized the importance of supporting cooperation pathways and strengthening the role of bilateral parliamentary diplomacy in regional and international forums. He highlighted the significance of defending the Palestinian cause and advancing the two-state solution as a means to guarantee Palestinian rights.
Rafique expressed his country's appreciation for Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, reaffirming Pakistan's commitment to supporting areas of joint cooperation. Commending Jordan's positions in defending the justice of the Palestinian cause, the diplomat reiterated Pakistan's support for the Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian sanctities and its endorsement of the two-state solution.
