Logistics Center in KHBTDA to Serve as Core for Dry Port, Says GM

Mafraq: Liza Dughmi, the director-general of the King Hussein Bin Talal Development Area (KHBTDA) in Mafraq, has announced that a new logistics services center will form the foundation of a dry port within the development area. This ambitious project encompasses a sprawling 3,700 dunams, with 900 dunams designated as a free zone, following approval from the Cabinet.

According to Jordan News Agency, Dughmi emphasized that essential infrastructure such as water and electricity has already been provided to the center. She stressed that investors are responsible for developing the land according to their project plans. A preliminary comprehensive plan has been created for the designated port area, and an agreement is in place with the General Customs Department to allocate 50 dunams for a customs center. This initiative aims to streamline and expedite customs procedures for investors, aligning with the government's strategic approach.

Dughmi also outlined the project's second phase, which will leverage the national railway, due to the development area's proximity to the railway, in accordance with the Ministry of Transport's plans. The dry port project will offer a range of facilities and services, including entry and exit points, customs control, temporary storage, and distribution services. Additional amenities will include packaging and handling services, container management, and offices for clearance agents, shipping, communication facilities, and other civil services.
