MADABA: The Greater Madaba Municipality (GMM) and the Bulgarian Municipality of Sapareva Banya signed a twinning agreement to foster collaboration in tourism, cultural exchange, and investment. The agreement, signed by Madaba Mayor Aref Rawajeeh and his Sapareva Banya counterpart Kalin Gelev, highlights a shared interest to strengthen ties between them. According to Jordan News Agency, It outlines plans to exchange expertise and organize visits with the aim of attracting investment to support both municipalities. A delegation of Bulgarian business leaders is set to visit Madaba later this month to explore investment opportunities, particularly in waste sorting, recycling, and converting waste into clean energy, said Rawajeeh. He also announced a decision to name a street in Madaba after Sapareva Banya, further symbolizing the bond between the cities. Madaba and Sapareva Banya share a unique cultural heritage, each with a history of over 2,000 years, landmark religious sites, therapeutic mineral waters, and proximity to respective capitals, making them tourism and investment destinations.
