The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, received today, Wednesday, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Claudio Cordone. A statement by the regional government stated that the meeting focused on the preparations taken to hold the Kurdistan Parliament elections. The Special Representative expressed his gratitude to the Kurdistan Regional Government for the support and good cooperation it provides in the context of preparations and coordination with the Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq to conduct the electoral process. For his part, the Prime Minister stressed the need to hold the elections in a free and fair atmosphere, far from any violations or manipulation. In this context, the importance of the vital role of international observers and the United Nations in effective monitoring to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process was emphasized.
