Amman: The General Trade Union of Workers in Mines, Mining, and Cement has entered into a collective labor agreement with the Arab Cement Company, promising significant benefits aimed at enhancing the economic and social conditions of the workers. This agreement is set to remain in effect until the end of 2027.
According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement was finalized on Tuesday with signatures from General Trade Union President Khaled Fanatsa and the company's Chairman Hassouni Muheilan. A notable feature of the agreement is a JD15 increase in the basic salary for all company employees, which will take effect on June 1.
In a bid to improve job stability and security, the agreement specifies that the company will regularize the status of contract workers who have been employed for over a year. This measure applies to 10 workers. Additionally, the agreement includes a JD10 monthly increase in the cost-of-living allowance, set to commence on January 1, 2027.
Both parties have emphasized their dedication to fostering a work environment characterized by cordiality, understanding, and mutual appreciation. The agreement is intended to strengthen positive labor relations between the company's management and its employees, thereby supporting ongoing work, production, and the company's role in the national economy.
The union and the company's union committee have also agreed to refrain from submitting any new financial demands during the term of the agreement. This agreement underscores the General Trade Union's commitment to collective bargaining, defending workers' rights, and improving working conditions while balancing workers' interests with enterprise sustainability, productivity, and labor market stability.
