Amman: Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Abdel Moneim Odat announced that Jordan is pursuing a comprehensive modernization strategy across political, economic, and administrative domains, maintaining its core values while preparing for future challenges and safeguarding the national interest.
According to Jordan News Agency, the minister emphasized the importance of political parties in not only participating in political activities but also in contributing to societal peace. He explained that this could be achieved through realistic and consensus-driven visions and programs that reflect the people's interests, address their needs, and show a deep understanding of the state's priorities and challenges.
Odat highlighted the crucial role of effective political parties as fundamental components of a balanced democratic system. He described them as the natural channels for citizens' opinions and aspirations and as institutional intermediaries that communicate public demands to state institutions within organized, legitimate frameworks.
He further elaborated on the importance of conscious partisan participation as a demonstration of faith in state institutions and a commitment to the country's future and stability. This participation is seen as the best method to consolidate active citizenship and productive belonging, steering away from individualism and narrow interests.
The minister called for political parties with national programs that encourage dialogue and diversity. He noted that, given the rapid developments in the region, there is a pressing need for responsible parties with clear national agendas based on dialogue and diversity rather than exclusion and conflict. Such parties would be true partners in national decision-making and the reform process.
Odat concluded by asserting that it is the collective responsibility of the government, political parties, and civil society institutions to work together in a spirit of teamwork to establish the foundations of a modern democratic state characterized by justice, citizenship, and the rule of law.
Bilal Sakarneh, head of the Community Peace Association, also spoke on the occasion. He noted that his organization, established in 2018 under the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, has been implementing various programs aimed at fostering a societal culture of dialogue and tolerance and promoting societal peace.
