Minister of State for Legal Affairs Wafa’ Bani Mustafa on Tuesday met United Kingdom ambassador Bridget Brind to discuss cooperation in enhancing women’s political participation and addressing challenges facing them in various fields.

They also focused on youth participation in decision-making to benefit from their creativity and innovation and deal with economic challenges along a path of political reform.

The minister said the new legislative amendments are essential to stimulate political party work, develop a democratic environment and empower women, stressing the importance of following up on these outcomes, and urging all political forces to work and positively interact with them.

She stressed the importance of offering support and guidance to political parties to increase women’s participation in political life, as well as benefiting from the expertise of countries where women face challenges.

The UK ambassador commended Jordan’s efforts to develop the political system, including constitutional amendments and the passage of the elections and political parties laws, which open new horizons and opportunities for women and youth.

Women’s participation in political work, she pointed out, would help make better decisions, highlighting the British government’s experiences in integrating the concept of gender in all programs.
