Amman: The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship has completed its initiative titled "Using Artificial Intelligence for Government Data Cleansing in Selected Use Cases," which saw collaboration with government institutions and project partners, including the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and implementing firm Eqra Tech.

According to Jordan News Agency, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Smeirat, highlighted that the project represents the state's commitment to integrating advanced technologies as part of its digital transformation strategy. The application of AI in cleansing government data is considered a crucial move towards establishing more efficient institutions and delivering more precise and transparent public services.

Smeirat explained that the project is in line with the directives of the National Council for Future Technology and aids in the execution of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy and the Economic Modernization Vision.

The initiative focused on two primary AI use cases. The first involved processing over two million Tawjihi student records from 1985 to 2004, using AI to restore national ID linkages after traditional methods had failed. The second use case dealt with harmonizing over 2.5 million land records between the Ministry of Local Administration and the Department of Lands and Survey, achieving a high match rate and recommending unified coding systems and enhanced inter-database connectivity.

Project officials stated that the results will enhance government data quality, minimize duplication and errors, and empower institutions to deliver services based on accurate analysis and current information.
