Ministry Prepares 15 Operations Rooms for Weather-Related Emergencies

Amman: The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has announced its readiness to address the anticipated weather depression set to impact the Kingdom starting Friday morning. The ministry has outlined a series of field and precautionary measures to ensure smooth traffic flow and pedestrian safety during this period.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry's spokesperson, Omar Maharmeh, stated on Thursday that the ministry's staff have completed the cleaning and monitoring of culverts across various regions to prevent water accumulation or landslides. Continuous inspections of these structures are being conducted as part of the preparedness plan.

Maharmeh highlighted that approximately 3,500 concrete barriers have been deployed in hazardous locations in recent days. Additionally, roadside ditches have been prepared and cleaned to facilitate efficient rainwater drainage. Some culverts have been widened using GRB systems, known for their ease of transport and installation.

The ministry, collaborating with contractors across different governorates, has increased the deployment of specialized vehicles to ensure a rapid response to any emergencies. Maharmeh emphasized that 15 operations rooms in the ministry's directorates nationwide are operational around the clock to handle emergencies. These operations rooms are supported by 110 field teams, 135 government vehicles, 20 snowplows, and 190 private sector vehicles, all ready for immediate response.

Citizens are urged to report emergencies through the main operations room by calling the unified number (106) or (06/5850111) from any mobile or landline phone. Alternatively, they can use WhatsApp at (0780377223) to contact the ministry.
