Amman: The Jordanian Media Credibility Monitor (AKEED) recorded 90 rumors in January, which spread through media outlets or social platforms. In its monthly report on Saturday, the monitor said that 20 of the 90 rumors were denied, 4 up from December when 16 rumors were dismissed.
According to Jordan News Agency, politics topped the list in January, with 31 rumors, followed by social rumors at 19, economy at 18, security at 13, public affairs at 7, and health with 2. AKEED noted that 76 of the rumors, making up 84%, originated from internal sources, while 14, or 16%, came from external sources.
The report further highlighted that 83 rumors, accounting for 92%, emerged from social media, whereas 7 rumors, or 8%, came from media outlets.
