Amman: A delegation from Morocco's Ministry of Justice visited the Jordanian Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC) on Monday to observe its efforts in combating graft and promoting integrity.
According to Jordan News Agency, the delegation, led by Moroccan Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi, included Moroccan Ambassador to Jordan Fouad Akhrif and Director of Criminal Affairs Hisham Malati. They were welcomed by JIACC Chairperson Muhannad Hijazi, who emphasized the strong and longstanding ties between Jordan and Morocco. Hijazi remarked that the visit represents ongoing cooperation between public administration institutions in both kingdoms and reflects coordination at Arab, regional, and international levels between the anti-graft bodies.
Hijazi also discussed the Commission's initiatives to promote integrity and combat corruption, focusing on proactive and preventative measures. The Moroccan minister acknowledged the potential for enhanced bilateral cooperation and highlighted Morocco's efforts to combat corruption and misinformation.
Asem Jadoua, Director of the Institutional Development Directorate at JIACC, provided the delegation with an overview of the Commission's powers and the acts defined as corruption under the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Law. He explained the National Integrity Index, which assesses public institutions' adherence to national integrity standards, and detailed updates for the 2024-2025 cycle. This cycle targets 119 government entities, including ministries, departments, independent institutions, universities, and hospitals.
