Amman: Mou'men Al-Hawari, Acting Director of the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), Abdel-Monem Al-Qarala, announced that the Kingdom has experienced good rainfall so far, primarily affecting most western regions. The highest recorded precipitation was in Ajloun with 23.7 mm, closely followed by Irbid with 14.8 mm.
According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Qarala mentioned that the upcoming weather forecast predicts heavy rainfall tonight and tomorrow, which could be accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional hail showers. He emphasized the potential for flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas throughout the Kingdom, especially in the northern and central regions, with moderate to brisk northwesterly winds expected.
Al-Qarala also cautioned about possible reduced horizontal visibility in various areas due to rain, fog, and low-lying clouds. Radar images from the Meteorological Department indicate that rainfall is prevalent across most governorates, notably in Amman, Ajloun, Irbid, the northern and central Jordan Valley, Jerash, and areas to the east of the Dead Sea.
The Meteorological Department has reiterated its warnings about potential flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea region. Additionally, visibility is expected to be reduced due to fog over highlands and parts of the plains, with dust potentially affecting visibility in desert areas.
