Amman: The Ministry of Transport and the Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies (JAMS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at exchanging scientific and practical expertise to establish a quality management system within the ministry, following approved international standard specifications.

According to Jordan News Agency, Minister of Transport Wissam Tahtamouni highlighted the significance of quality and collaboration with JAMS in this critical area, stating that this initiative will contribute to the development of operations and enhance the ministry's performance. Tahtamouni commended JAMS for its role as the first maritime education institution in Jordan, recognized for its reputation both regionally and internationally due to its achievements.

JAMS is regarded as a source of pride for Jordan, comparable to international academies, owing to its management, professional staff, and advanced educational services. The academy's alumni are noted for their discipline and professionalism, which bolster its standing and reputation in maritime circles.

JAMS President Dr. Mustafa Massad expressed the academy's commitment to maintaining its position among the world's leading academies. He mentioned that graduates from JAMS, hailing from various nationalities, hold Jordanian degrees and occupy leadership roles in the maritime sector, including ship management and maritime institutions across several Arab nations.

Massad also noted that the academy currently hosts students from over 60 nationalities, all pursuing Jordanian degrees. He affirmed that JAMS will continue to support the Ministry of Transport, expressing gratitude to Tahtamouni for her ongoing support and interest in the maritime transport sector.

The memorandum aims to reinforce the framework for joint cooperation and expertise exchange, focusing on establishing a quality management system within the ministry that aligns with the international standard ISO 9001:2015.
