Muslim World League Supports UK Ban on Goods from Israeli Settlements

London: The Muslim World League has expressed its approval of the United Kingdom government's decision to prohibit the import of goods from Israeli settlements located in the occupied Palestinian territories. The UK government also plans to place restrictions on services associated with these settlements. Additionally, the League welcomed a joint statement on the two-state solution issued by the foreign ministers of Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the General Secretariat of the League released a statement in which Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General and Chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association, commended the UK's decision. He highlighted that this action supports the historical and legal rights of the Palestinian people. Dr. Al-Issa urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral duties by immediately stopping all violations by the Israeli government. He called for definitive and actionable measures to counter attempts to alter the demographic or geographic landscape in the occupied Palestinian territory through illegal settlement activities.

Dr. Al-Issa also lauded the support from the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt. He emphasized their unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and their advocacy for legitimate rights, particularly the establishment of a Palestinian state as part of the two-state solution. This, he stated, is the sole path to achieving a just and enduring peace in the region.
