National Center for Human Rights Presents 2023 Report to Constitutional Court

Mohammad Muhadeen, President of the Constitutional Court, received Sunday from Samar Haj Hassan, Chairperson of the National Center for Human Rights, the 20th annual report on the status of human rights in Jordan for the year 2023. During the meeting, Muhadeen underscored the vital role of the National Center for Human Rights and its alignment with the Constitutional Court's mission and objectives, underlining that the constitutional judiciary is a key mechanism for safeguarding citizens' rights and freedoms. He noted that public rights and freedoms are crucial, as human dignity and legal protection are fundamental to political, economic, social, and legal reforms and stability. Haj Hassan highlighted that the report, prepared under Article 12 of the National Center Law, provides a comprehensive overview of human rights and public freedoms in the Kingdom. The annual report covers three main areas: civil and political rights, economic, social, and cultural rights, and the rights of vulnerable groups. It al so includes four appendices: progress on the 2022 recommendations, the Center's response to the aggression on Gaza, an analysis of complaints received in 2023, and a summary of the Center's achievements and activities at national, regional, and international levels.
