Amman:The National Strategy for the Food Processing Industry (2027-2029) aims to transform Jordan into a regional food manufacturing and logistics hub through a comprehensive structural transformation roadmap focused on seven strategic pillars.
According to Jordan News Agency, the strategy is a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply, the USAID Economic Reform Activity, the Jordan Chamber of Industry, and key public-private partners. It features 18 strategic initiatives designed to enhance export competitiveness and economic impact.
The initiatives include launching a national food traceability system, upgrading testing laboratories, and establishing agri-industrial clusters. The strategy also emphasizes contract farming, advanced packaging technologies, and Smart Manufacturing systems to boost productivity and market diversification.
By 2029, the strategy aims to increase sector productivity and expand Jordan's export markets, underpinned by a performance management framework with specific Key Performance Indicators. This initiative follows the Ministry's broader industrial strategies for food, engineering, and chemical and cosmetic manufacturing, aiming to drive industrial output and job creation.
