NCHR Backs Government Measures to Curb Price Hikes


Amman: The National Center for Human Rights welcomed directives by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan stressing the need to control prices of essential goods and address any unjustified increases that exceed actual costs in a way that protects citizens’ rights and promotes fairness in the market.



According to Jordan News Agency, the NCHR also praised the government’s move to take effective and deterrent measures against violators and hoarders, including imposing fines and shutting down non-compliant businesses, noting that such steps have a direct impact on consumer protection and price stability.



It added that it had monitored several reports and complaints in recent periods related to rising prices, documenting them and referring them to the relevant authorities to take the necessary action, while strengthening oversight and inspection efforts.
