Amman: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's University Student Support Fund has provided more than JD687.4 million in scholarships and loans to 747,430 public university students between 2004 and 2025, officials announced Monday.
According to Jordan News Agency, the 21-year milestone showcases the Kingdom's long-term commitment to equal educational opportunities and supporting families, ministry spokesperson Muhannad Khatib told Petra. Student loans accounted for the largest share of assistance, with 438,953 students receiving a combined JD344.2 million, according to Khatib. Partial scholarships formed the second-largest category, delivering JD232.3 million to 272,121 students, while full scholarships covered complete tuition costs for 36,356 students, totaling JD110.9 million.
Khatib noted that balancing full scholarships, partial aid, and loans allows the ministry's Directorate of Student Affairs to adapt to varying financial needs, ensuring higher education remains accessible across the Kingdom's public universities.
