NGO Ship Rescues 50 Migrants, Retrieves Seven Bodies Off Libyan Coast

Rome: Humanitarian organization Emergency announced Monday that the crew of its search and rescue vessel recovered seven bodies from a boat spotted at dawn in international waters within the regional search and rescue zone.

According to Jordan News Agency, the organization said its crew rescued 50 migrants aboard the vessel. Survivors reported that they had set sail from the Libyan city of Zuwara early Sunday morning.

Among the rescued migrants are five women and 29 unaccompanied minors, nine of whom require urgent medical assistance, according to Emergency.
