Manama, Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), chaired the 20th Board of Commissioners meeting. The meeting underscored NIHR's commitment to protecting and promoting human rights. The board emphasised the importance of upholding the fundamental rights of individuals, according to national and international legislation, by organising field visits to correctional, rehabilitation, and pretrial detention centres during Ashoora. This comes within NIHR's commitment to ensuring that all inmates enjoy their fundamental rights, including the unrestricted exercise of their religious rituals, without any discrimination or limitation. The meeting reviewed a report on recent visits to the Jaw Reform and Rehabilitation Centre and discussed key recommendations for improving medical care and enhancing cooperation with authorities to achieve these goals.
