Nursing Council and UNRWA Conclude Emergency Training Program in Jordan

Amman:The Jordanian Nursing Council (JNC) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) have completed an emergency care training program, equipping 25 agency employees with essential skills in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and crisis response.

According to Jordan News Agency, the program featured a combination of hands-on simulation training, CPR for various age groups, the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and emergency treatments for bleeding, burns, and fractures. This initiative was launched on World Heart Day.

JNC Secretary-General Hani Nawafleh highlighted that simulation-based training can enhance healthcare workers' practical skills and response times during emergencies, thereby improving the quality and safety of services. He also stated that the council aims to expand its partnership with UNRWA and enhance professional training and development programs.

Discussions between Nawafleh and UNRWA Director of Health Akihiro Seita included future collaboration in areas such as primary healthcare, reproductive health, emergency response, and modern training programs. Officials responsible for hospitalization and nursing services were also present.

Seita noted that cooperation with the council now encompasses personnel across UNRWA's five operational areas: Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank (including East Jerusalem), and the Gaza Strip.

The training sessions were conducted by JNC Clinical Simulation Supervisor Tahani Khalil, and the program included specialized training in psychological first aid and crisis response led by Ayman Mansour, a Professor of Mental Health at the University of Jordan. This segment of the training emphasized early psychological support, recognizing cases needing specialist referral, and integrating mental health support into emergency response strategies.

At the conclusion of the program, Nawafleh awarded certificates to participants and affirmed the council's commitment to developing further specialized training initiatives.
