One Killed, Two Injured in Old Explosive Blast at Al-Dulayl Scrap Yard

Al-dulayl: A person was killed and two others were injured on Tuesday after an old explosive device detonated at a scrapyard in the Al-Dulayl area, northeastern Amman. The incident has raised concerns about the safety measures in place for scrap metal collection in the region.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson stated that a report was received indicating three individuals from the Al-Dulayl area were evacuated to the hospital. One of them succumbed to injuries sustained while working in scrap metal collection. The other two individuals remain under medical treatment.

The PSD spokesperson further explained that investigations confirmed the individuals were collecting scrap, which included an old explosive object. When they attempted to cut the object, it exploded. Specialists were dispatched to cordon off the site and conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

In light of the tragic event, the spokesperson urged scrap collectors to exercise caution and remain vigilant while working. They advised individuals not to tamper with or move any suspicious objects and to report such items immediately to the relevant authorities for proper handling.
