The independent Kurdish politician Mahmoud Othman explained the position of the Kurds on the draft general amnesty and personal status amendment laws that are scheduled to be approved soon. Othman said in a statement to the Iraqi National News Agency / NINA /: The Kurds in general are in favor of approving the general amnesty law and support it, setting a single condition, which is not to include terrorists in it, while the rest of the crimes can be determined by inclusion within the law. He explained that the Kurds stand against approving the amendment of the Personal Status Law, because it causes many problems in the country, noting that the Union of Religious Scholars in the region rejects the amendment, and the Kurdish political blocs are committed to it. Last Monday, the House of Representatives concluded the discussion (second reading) of the proposed amendment to the General Amnesty Law No. 27 of 2016, and the second reading "report and discussion" of the proposed law to amend the Personal Status La w No. 188 of 1959, Articles 2 and 10 thereof. /End Source: National Iraqi News Agency
