Overall Completion Rate of Census Listing Phase Reaches 97%: DoS

Amman: Director General of the Department of Statistics (DoS), Dr. Haider Freihat, announced that the field performance indicators for the 2026 General Population and Housing Census demonstrate "rapid progress" in implementation on the ground during a meeting with the Executive Council of Mafraq governorate on Tuesday.

According to Jordan News Agency, Dr. Freihat reviewed the latest developments and shared that the overall completion rate has reached 97%, showcasing the "readiness" of field operations and adherence to the approved timetable. The data presented during the meeting revealed that the completion rate for enumerating buildings reached 97.2%, while the blocks completion rate stood at 97%, confirming progress in establishing the necessary spatial and data base for the enumeration phase.

Dr. Freihat also highlighted the growing demand for the self-enumeration service, with 21.5% of participants opting for this method, which enhances the "efficiency" of the census and offers families "more flexible options" for participation. Governor of Mafraq, Dr. Firas Abu Qaoud, emphasized the importance of continued cooperation among various entities to ensure the census' success, describing it as a national project that provides a "modern database to support planning and development policies."

Furthermore, the meeting included discussions on mechanisms to support field teams and improve institutional coordination in the upcoming phase. Attendees stressed the vital role of local administrations in facilitating the implementation of the national project and ensuring access to "accurate and comprehensive" statistical data, which is crucial for development plans and decision-making processes.
