Oxfam and Un Ponte Per Launch “Rabee” Project for Vulnerable Groups in Jordan

Amman:Oxfam in Jordan, in collaboration with the Italian organization Un Ponte Per (UPP), has initiated the "Rabee" (SPRING) project aimed at enhancing protection for vulnerable groups, including refugees and Jordanians. The project seeks to deliver comprehensive and sustainable protection services across Zarqa, Mafraq, Amman, and Ramtha.

According to Jordan News Agency, the project is supported by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and is executed in partnership with local organizations such as the Al-Dhuleil Women's Association, Athar for Development, and Sawaed Al-Taghyeer (Arms of Change) for Community Empowerment.

The "Rabee" initiative offers a range of services including protection, psychosocial support, legal counseling, advocacy, and safe spaces specifically for women and children. Additionally, it provides cash assistance to economically vulnerable families to meet protection-related and educational needs.

At the launch event, stakeholders from government institutions, civil society organizations, and UN agencies convened to explore ways to enhance cooperation and ensure the accessibility of comprehensive protection services for women, children, and refugees.

The project employs a multisectoral strategy to meet the immediate needs of the communities while also focusing on capacity-building for local communities and institutions. This approach aims to bolster resilience and promote sustainable development in the long term.

Mohammad Samara, programme manager at Oxfam in Jordan, emphasized the project's commitment to protecting the rights of vulnerable groups in Jordan. He highlighted that the interventions are culturally sensitive and designed to ensure sustainability and meet community needs.
