Amman: The 20th Parliament successfully passed 14 draft laws during its inaugural regular session, which also included a detailed discussion of the Audit Bureau's 2023 report.
According to Jordan News Agency, the Lower House of Representatives and the Senate jointly approved a series of draft laws addressing a range of sectors, including financial, women-related, power, and cooperative sectors. These legislative measures were part of a broader effort to address key areas of national interest and promote effective governance.
Additionally, both chambers of Parliament agreed on amendments related to the construction industry, real estate, foreigner residency, customs, civil aviation, penalties, and the restructuring of government institutions. These amendments aim to streamline processes and enhance the efficiency of various sectors.
The legislative session aligns with the Constitution, which mandates Parliament to hold one regular six-month session every calendar year. The session is traditionally inaugurated by His Majesty, who delivers the Speech from the Throne, and is concluded by a Royal Decree, marking the prorogation of its term.
