Paris: Chairman of Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Dr. Faris Breizat, took part in a side event and exhibition organized by UNESCO in Paris as part of the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee.

According to Jordan News Agency, the participation was held to celebrate the official inauguration of the "Digital Heritage Platform," an innovative initiative supported by the Saudi Ministry of Culture, aimed to enable exploration of UNESCO World Heritage sites using advanced digital technologies.

During the event, an initial agreement was reached to list the city of Petra on the global platform, a step that would enhance its digital reach and allow millions of visitors around the world to learn about its "unique heritage in an interactive and innovative way."

In a statement, PDTRA said this move comes as part of its ongoing efforts to connect the archaeological site of Petra with modern technology and expand communication channels with the global public.

The PDTRA noted this effort would consolidate the ancient city's status as "one of the world's most prominent cultural and heritage tourist destinations."
