According to BBC, the tournament has been battling interruptions as storms disrupted the initial days, causing more than nine hours of lost play on Thursday and Friday at the Warwickshire course. The competition is set to resume at 07:00 BST on Sunday, with players maintaining their round three pairings for the final round. Forecasts predict dry conditions in the morning followed by heavy rain in the afternoon and evening.
Penge, aged 28, showcased impressive form by playing 32 holes on Friday, achieving an eagle, ten birdies, and one bogey. He was 11 under after 14 holes when play was halted due to fading light, returning on Saturday morning to finish his second round at 10 under overall. This performance secured him a halfway lead over Hillier by one stroke. Penge remarked, "It was pretty typical of me to have a roller coaster sort of round of golf. Luckily this one was on the right side of par."
The third round saw Penge and Hillier tee off around 18:30 BST, ending the day one shot ahead of Northern Irelands Tom McKibbin, who has completed six holes. McKibbin, 23, who joined LIV Golf in January 2025, completed all 18 holes of his second round on the third day, achieving four birdies with a bogey-eagle-bogey finish.
