Petra: The Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Board of Commissioners has approved official forms for the ownership and lease of immovable property. This decision pertains to properties outside the Petra Archaeological Reserve and other archaeological sites in the region.
According to Jordan News Agency, the PDTRA will start accepting applications at the Investment Directorate (One-Stop Shop). These applications will be reviewed following legal procedures. In addition, a lease and ownership committee has been established. This committee, chaired by the Commissioner for Infrastructure and Investment, includes six specialized directors, one of whom is a Department of Lands and Survey representative. The committee is tasked with executing the responsibilities and powers outlined in the regulations.
PDTRA Chief Commissioner Fares Breizat stated that the lease and ownership system for areas outside the Petra Archaeological Reserve has met all legislative and regulatory requirements. Following its publication in the Official Gazette, the authority is now able to begin processing applications.
The system is designed to provide public benefits to various stakeholders, including residents, investors, and landowners in the Petra region, while maximizing the use of private properties. The initiative aims to transform these properties into viable investment opportunities. Breizat emphasized that the system supports government efforts to develop local communities and foster secure investments that generate employment and promote sustainable development in the southern region.
