Petra Authority Chief and US Ambassador Discuss Future Cooperation

Petra: Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Chief Commissioner Fares Braizat and US Ambassador Jim Holtsnider recently engaged in discussions to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation. The dialogue specifically focused on sustainable tourism, infrastructure development, and support for initiatives that serve the local community while promoting Petra as a global tourist destination.

According to Jordan News Agency, Braizat highlighted the importance of the partnership with the United States, expressing gratitude for its support in development and tourism projects within the Petra region, noting its positive impact on sustainable development.

The US Ambassador commended PDTRA for its dedication to preserving the cultural heritage of Petra, known as the Red Rose City, and enhancing the tourism experience. He observed during his tour of the archaeological site the substantial efforts in maintenance, tourism management, and visitor experience improvements.

Holtsnider also mentioned that Americans rank among the most frequent visitors to Petra, underscoring its significant status on the global tourism map. He reaffirmed the United States' commitment to continuing its cooperation with Jordan in various tourism and development sectors.
