Petroleum Min. meets delegation from Weatherford International

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, met with a delegation from Weatherford International, a leading provider of digital services and solutions for the petroleum sector. The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the petroleum sector and Weatherford in implementing digital transformation in the industry. The minister also followed up on the progress of the project to digitize oil and gas fields, specifically at the Khalida Petroleum Company in the Western Desert of Egypt. The project aims to incorporate the latest digital technologies in 100 wells to improve production data measurement, monitoring, and analysis in real time. This will enable more efficient management and operation of the wells, ensuring sustainability, productivity, and safety. The first phase of the project, which involved connecting 30 wells to the digital system, has been completed. The next phase targets an additional 70 wells to be connected by 2025, and the company is actively working towards this goal. For his part, Engineer Karim Badawi emphasized during the meeting that the Petroleum Sector is open to cooperation with international partners in the field of services and technology for the petroleum industry in order to enhance its use in developing petroleum production, raising its rates and overcoming challenges.
