Amman: Prime Minister Jafar Hassan has directed the Media Commission to formally withdraw a criminal complaint the latter filed against Al-Mamlaka TV, an independent public broadcaster. According to Jordan News Agency, the Media Commission has submitted a motion to the Amman Court of First Instance to dismiss the criminal case, including all related charges against the network and its personnel. The case originated when the Media Commission referred Al-Mamlaka TV to the Public Prosecutor's Office after the station aired an erroneous report on an emergency declaration, which was later confirmed to be inaccurate, as no official declaration of emergency had been issued. The broadcast was deemed grounds for potential legal action under broadcasting regulations.
