Warsaw: The Polish Border Guard reported that approximately 30,000 illegal entry attempts from Belarus were recorded in 2025. This figure represents a slight decrease from the over 30,400 incidents documented in 2024.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Polish Border Guard attributed the reduction in illegal crossings to measures such as extending the exclusion zone along the border and suspending the right of most migrants to seek international protection in Poland. These efforts have been part of Poland's strategy to manage the ongoing migration challenges it has faced since 2021.
The Border Guard also highlighted that between March and December 2025, over 240 applications for international protection were rejected. This reflects Poland's stringent policies in response to what it perceives as a migration emergency.
Poland has consistently accused Belarus and Russia of employing illegal migration routes as a tactic of 'hybrid warfare' aimed at destabilizing NATO's eastern flank. The Polish government has been vocal about its stance and continues to implement measures to secure its borders.
