Amman, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel arrested a person in possession of 200,000 counterfeit dollar bills.
In a statement on Thursday, media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said CID agents tracked information for weeks about a person in Jerash governorate, in possession of a quantity of counterfeit currency and is phoning another person to sell those fake bills.
A special investigative team followed up the case and monitored the suspect to spot the place where he hid the counterfeit dollars and seize the fake cash ahead of being traded in the local market, the spokesperson said.
Then, detectors affirmed information that the suspect struck an agreement to sell the fake currency to a person, and identified the place of handing over the counterfeit dollars in the capital, Amman, the official pointed out.
Police then raided and arrested the suspected person, in his possession of 200,000 fake dollars, who was taken to follow up investigations, the official noted.
