The Public Security Department (PSD) has issued a renewed warning regarding the necessity of keeping vehicle license plates visible, stressing that concealing them is a serious violation. The PSD underscored that obstructing license plates is often a deliberate act with criminal implications, suggesting intentions to manipulate or commit unlawful acts. License plates play a crucial role in vehicle identification, enhancing both driver safety and road security. Officials assured that both traffic and criminal departments have the technical capabilities to track and retrieve information on vehicles with obscured plates, and they are actively pursuing offenders. This has led to several arrests and ongoing efforts to apprehend additional violators. Under the amended traffic regulations, tampering with license plates can result in imprisonment for one to three months, fines ranging from 250 to 500 dinars, or both penalties.
