Amman: Chief Executive Officer of the Arab Potash Company (APC), Ma'en Nsour, and CEO of CEC (Germany), George Engelmann, have signed an engineering services agreement to design APC's third cold crystallization plant, a significant component of the Southern Expansion Project. This initiative aims to boost potash production by one million tons annually, marking a 30% increase by 2030 and enhancing APC's position in the global fertilizer market.
According to Jordan News Agency, the project encompasses the construction of a new compaction plant, loading stations, and storage facilities, which will link to a planned railway network connecting Ghor Al-Safi to Aqaba, thereby improving APC's supply chain and export efficiency.
Chairperson of the Board, Shihada Abu Hdeib, expressed pride in this agreement with CEC, calling it a milestone for APC's Southern Expansion Project. Launched in May under Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan's patronage, it is one of Jordan's largest industrial undertakings, reflecting APC's commitment to enhancing production capacity and global competitiveness.
Abu Hdeib emphasized APC's strategy to maximize national resource value, contribute to the economy, and create sustainable employment. APC has expanded export markets, maintained a strong traditional presence, and launched projects improving operational efficiency and production capacity, reinforcing its role as a national industrial leader.
Ma'en Nsour, APC's CEO, stated that the engineering agreement is crucial for the Southern Expansion projects, aligning with a plan to increase potash output by 30% by 2030. The new plant will ensure high-purity potash production using advanced technologies, meeting stringent quality standards.
He added that the project will enhance APC's ability to meet international market demands, support high-value-added industries, diversify products, maximize returns, and achieve sustainable export growth. APC is committed to high environmental, technical, and operational sustainability standards, relying on Jordanian expertise and strategic global partnerships.
George Engelmann, CEO of CEC, expressed pride in partnering with APC on this project, affirming CEC's commitment to designing the plant with the latest technologies for safe operations and sustainable high-purity potash production.
