Amman: President of the Arab Thought Forum, Prince El Hassan bin Talal, recently visited the Doctors Without Borders (M©decins Sans Fronti¨res - MSF) Reconstructive Surgery Hospital, where he engaged with doctors, hospital officials, representatives of international organizations, and physicians from the Royal Medical Services. During this visit, Prince El Hassan expressed his appreciation for MSF's significant humanitarian efforts in mitigating the suffering resulting from wars and conflicts, emphasizing the importance of humanitarian work in preserving human dignity.
According to Jordan News Agency, Prince El Hassan toured several wards within the hospital, observing the treatment processes and receiving briefings on the latest medical technologies implemented, especially in the burns unit. The hospital's Medical Director, Dr. Amira Dahmani, provided an overview of the organization's activities, highlighting recent advancements in monitoring the physical and psychological conditions of war victims. She emphasized MSF's ongoing commitment to delivering comprehensive care to individuals affected by war and severe injuries.
Dr. Dahmani also reported that since last July, the hospital has admitted 32 children from the Gaza Strip under the Royal Initiative for Treatment, along with 49 accompanying family members. She mentioned that these children are still undergoing medical care at the facility.
At the end of the visit, Prince El Hassan stressed the importance of continuous coordination among institutions involved in treating war victims to alleviate both the physical and psychological impacts of conflict. He advocated for the integration of local and international efforts to bolster humanitarian and medical work in Jordan and the broader region.
The visit was attended by Cyril Cabay, MSF Representative in Jordan; Roshan Ravindra Kumarsamy, Director of the MSF-affiliated Mowasat Hospital; former Minister of Health Saad Jaber; Brigadier General Hatem Samadi; and several doctors and specialists.
