Amman: His Royal Highness Prince Mired bin Raad, Chief Chamberlain and President of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, sponsored the closing ceremony of the "Military Injured Persons to Support Tourism" program. This initiative aims to empower injured military personnel and their families by preparing them for integration into the labor market, particularly within the tourism and hospitality sectors.
According to Jordan News Agency, a total of 46 injured military personnel and their family members participated in the program, which lasted for 19 months and included over 190 hours of intensive training in Amman and Irbid. The training focused on English language, digital and life skills, along with technical qualifications approved by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to align with the needs of the local labor market.
Implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Hashemite Commission for Disabled Military Personnel, Boeing, and AMIDEAST/Jordan, the program also provided psychosocial support sessions to enhance participants' mental health. AMIDEAST coordinated with more than 15 tourism employers to assist in marketing participants' CVs.
During the event, Prince Mired emphasized the importance of such innovative programs that empower injured military personnel and facilitate their workforce integration. He mentioned that efforts to support injured military personnel began over 25 years ago, resulting in significant progress through training and rehabilitation.
Prince Mired described the initiative as a model of national and international partnership that enhances participants' capabilities professionally and psychologically. He praised the implementing partners and advocated for similar initiatives in other sectors.
Kuljit Ghata-Aura, President of Boeing Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Central Asia, expressed pride in supporting veterans transitioning to civilian life and commended the Hashemite Commission's role in creating sustainable impact.
Fadi Balawi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, highlighted the ministry's commitment to such programs, especially those aimed at empowering disabled military personnel. He noted the growing tourism sector in Jordan and the need for qualified professionals.
Balawi added that the ministry will continue to support initiatives promoting the integration of diverse groups into the labor market, enhancing their economic and social participation.
Nour Rasheed, AMIDEAST/Jordan Country Director, affirmed the partnership model's value, emphasizing that participants gained technical skills and restored their self-confidence, becoming active contributors in the tourism sector.
