Dibbin: Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Talal, President of the Jordanian Association for Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, on Thursday sponsored the Ministry of Education's central celebration marking the 79th anniversary of Jordan's Independence Day. The event, held at the Princess Basma Permanent Scout Camp in Dibbin, was organized by the Scouts and Guides Directorate within the Ministry's Activities Department.
According to Jordan News Agency, in her address, Princess Basma emphasized that Independence Day reaffirms national pride and honors the sacrifices of previous generations in building a free and dignified homeland. She highlighted the importance of continuing the process of development and modernization under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, despite prevailing challenges. The Princess also praised the Ministry of Education's efforts in promoting the Scout Movement as a vital part of the educational process. She noted the movement's significant role in cultivating values such as national belonging, volunteerism, and civic responsibility among youth.
In a speech on behalf of the Minister of Education, Secretary-General for Educational Affairs Nawaf Ajarmah described Independence Day as a defining moment in Jordan's history. He recalled May 25, 1946, as the day Jordan attained full independence and emerged as a Hashemite Arab state advocating moderation and tolerance. Ajarmah emphasized that this national occasion serves as a source of inspiration and determination to continue building a unified, progressive society. He reiterated the Ministry's dedication to nurturing students with strong national identity and values through creative programs that encourage innovation and resilience.
He added that Jordan's independence was not merely a historical milestone, but the beginning of a continuous journey of growth. Over time, Jordan has become a model of regional stability and development through visionary leadership and national resolve. The celebration concluded with folkloric performances by the Ministry's Scouts and Guides to commemorate the occasion.
