PSD Seizes 5,000 Adulterated Olive Oil Tins in Irbid

Irbid:The Public Security Directorate (PSD) has announced the seizure of 5,000 tins of adulterated olive oil in the Irbid governorate. This operation was conducted following a tip-off regarding the discovery of thousands of empty containers, originally meant for imported olive oil, raising suspicions of widespread olive oil fraud intended to sell the product at local market prices.

According to Jordan News Agency, the PSD spokesperson revealed that a specialized investigative team was promptly formed, including members from the Preventive Security Department and the Royal Environmental Protection Administration, to pursue the investigation and collect information.

The team's swift actions led to the identification of a farm in Irbid governorate where the fraudulent activity was being conducted. A raid on the farm resulted in the arrest of individuals present on-site and the seizure of the 5,000 tins of olive oil and additional empty containers. These seized items have been impounded, and samples have been sent for necessary laboratory testing as the investigation continues.

Joint inspection and investigative teams have been established to monitor olive oil production and sales across the nation. The PSD spokesperson also urged the public to purchase olive oil only from reputable sources and refrain from buying through social media platforms to avoid fraudulent products.
